 Once again Thanksgiving is almost here and we are planning to give out baskets to needy families in our community. Last year we gave over out 1300, and we expect the need to be as much or greater this season. However, this year we will be limited with how many stores we can put barrels in to collect canned goods, so we are asking our generous supporters to help us out. The Mission can deliver a barrel to your church, business or organization for collecting food for the baskets. You can designate a week-end or week or whatever to collect for us and then call us and we will pick up your donations. Youth groups or classes can hold food drives. You can sponsor a certain number of baskets by providing everything that goes into each one. Or you can drop off canned goods at the Mission for the baskets. All donations – big or small- will be greatly appreciated. Items needed for the baskets include frozen turkeys, cans of pumpkin, fruit, corn, green beans and yams; boxes of macaroni and cheese, cake mixes and Jello; and a five pound bag of potatoes.
