The Crossroad Connection
The Light House Mission’s Safe House/Group Home for Teen Girls
In April 2009, The Light House Mission incorporated The Crossroad Connection into its ministry base.
The Crossroad Connection (formerly Gary's Place) was established in 1997 through Urban Life, a division of Youth for Christ and moved into its permanent facility in December 1999. The name change was made to reflect that teen girls who come here are at a crossroad in their lives and need guidance with crucial decisions regarding their future.
The Crossroad Connection is located at 1324 Eagle Street in Terre Haute. The purpose of the state licensed facility is to provide shelter and intervention for Wabash Valley teen girls from ages 12-21. Any girl who is homeless by choice or circumstance, including new wards of the State or individuals classified as Children in Need of Services are eligible to stay at the home. Emergency shelter is also available. Staff is on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help teen girls who need a safe and nurturing place to grow.
The facility can house up to 10 girls. The staff provides independent living skills training, personal counseling, spiritual counseling, and assistance in achieving educational goals as well as medical care, housing, food /nutritional needs, and recreation for each girl. The residents must also continue their high school education in an accredited school or work toward a GED.
